What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week Lillie McFerrin will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word.
The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.
This week’s word: Waiting. And for some reason it made me think of the farmers in central parts of Australia as they wait or the rains to come.
Hat jammed on his head he leaned on the old fence.
In the distance he could see the storm gathering but would it come this far.
Stooping he picked up a handful of the dirt at his feet, it crumbled to dust in his hands.
Without the rains every thing would die, but he couldn't control nature.
He went back to leaning on the fence.
