NaNoWriMo Update

Well this is just a quick update for anyone who was interested in how I did for this.

Not real good, is the short answer. I started several different story's, wrote a few lines and then basically scraped them. But I did do some writing, no where near the set goal though.

I have made a note in my diary , for next year, on the first of October so I can plan something. But not that I am not going to do any writing in the interim. I read a couple of blogs that give word prompts for stories so I am planning on doing some of them.

I also made a note for another one I found, based on the principle of NaNoWriMo but focusing on making a seed bead item a day. That also sounds like a lot of fun to me.

Tune Tuesdays- The Bongo Song

I apologise for no post last week, we went down the coast to Merimbula for my husbands birthday. I did take my laptop only to discover while down there that no matter what I did my internet would not work. (I'm with Optus.) Have to say I have learnt a very valuable lesson from that, schedule posts just in case!

So my song this week is Safri Duo's The Bongo Song. From their 2000 album, this was really popular at all the night clubs. Unfortunately I cant remember it, though the more I listen to it the more it does sound familiar.

Happy 40th Hubby!!

Tuesday was my husbands 40th birthday. To celebrate we had a huge party at our house on Saturday night. I think I'm still recovering.

Then on Monday we came down to Merimbula for the week with our caravan. Nice and relaxing.

Unfortunately my laptop Internet will not work down here so I wasn't able to do this post yesterday. I only just thought of trying my phone.

Tune Tuesday- 5,6,7,8.

I have to apologise for not having posted for the last week. Its taken me longer to recover from my operation than I though it would.

This was another very popular song at clubs when I started going out. Everyone would get up and do the dance. Though to be honest I have no idea what it is now.

In 1998 I went over to Canada to visit a friend and this was one of the songs I took. I had 1 old mix tape that I listened to non stop for 2 weeks while travelling.

Tune Tuesdays- Macarena

Its Macarena Time!! By Los del Rio. Don't you just love this song, even if you won't admit it out loud.

My work party last year was a cruise. At the end of the night they played Macarena. Have you ever noticed how many people say they don't like this song but can do all the moves? Of course I had to get up as well. Its too fun not too.

Gallstones

Yesterday I had an elective cholecystectomy. For those of you who have never heard of this it's the removal of my gallbladder and the gallstones in it.

When I was officially diagnosed with gallstones in August I wasn't surprised. I'd been getting little bits of pain since my pregnancy. Gallstones often developed then.

So off I went to see the surgeon and get booked in. And yesterday was it. I'm hard to cannulate, very small veins, but that was soon in and I was unconscious. Waking up was another story. OMG!

I woke up, mid nightmare, flat on my back with incredible lower abdominal pain. Struggling to breathe. I'm asthmatic and flat is not good. I think it was mostly a side effect of the aneasthetic. I don't panic often but I was starting to. I couldn't slow my breathing done and the wheezes were getting more widespread.

Luckily I managed to ask for ventolin
so they sat me up and gave me a nebuliser. And I woke up enough to calm down which helped.

The pain was incredible and they ended up having to give me a large amount of fentanyl. Fentanyl doesn't seem to work on me as well as it does on others.

Once I was up on the ward they gave me some endone which is helping. At the moment the pain is just a dull ache.

They also gave me my gallstones in a container. At first I admit I went into shock when I saw it. I've only just managed to count them, there are 34 of them. With the smallest being over half a centre meter in diameter. They are huge, some of the biggest I've ever seen. I can't believe I didn't have more pain.

(I do apologize for spelling errors and grammatical mistakes but as I type this it's 3am and I have some strong drugs on board.)

NaNoWriMo

Today is the start of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Now I first heard about this through one of the blogs that I follow, last November. Its a yearly event. The idea is that you sign up and write your novel, with the catch being that you are actually aiming to write 50000 words during the month.

The NaNoWriMo website allows you to interact with others doing it and keep track of your progress. At the end, if you manage to write 50000+ words, you can upload your novel to the website to be checked and then you receive a certificate. How to page so you can answer all your questions.

When I read about it last year it was already part way through November so I made a mental note to do it this year. Well, as to be expected, I forgot about it until about 3 days ago. Now I am torn, should I or shouldn't I do it. I have no outline organised and we have a few events on this month.Am I going to be able to write every day, well truthfully, no. And of course, I went blank and could not think of a single story idea. Generally I can come up with multiple ideas a day.

I always wrote when I was in school, both primary and high. To be honest I didn't stop writing on a regular basis until I started full time work and all the overtime that went with that. Now I only work part time as I am a mum so really I should be able to make time. To be honest it's the no outline bit that is my biggest stress. (I came up with an ide that I liked.)

So here I am, the first day of it, still procrastinating. (I'm having day surgery in a few hours, nothing major, but not helping with the decision making process.) To be honest I think I should just go for it and do it. I should be able to write a plan as I go.

Decision Made! I will do it! Really the worst that can happen is if I don't get to 50000 words. And even that is no drama because the important thing is that I gave it a go.

Are any of you doing NaNoWriMo?
